About Evox

Built by one person

Evox is a solo project. One dev, one athlete, one product. No investors, no board, no growth hacking, just the training tool I wanted for myself, that turned out to matter to other people too.

Founder · Solo dev · CrossFit athlete · Former military

I started CrossFit a bit over two years ago. Got hooked fast. Like a lot of people who get hooked, I wanted to progress further than group classes could take me.

That meant custom programming. A coach I trust sends me a program every few weeks, and I follow it alone in open gym between classes. That's where Evox came from: the programming was on Google Sheets, the timer in another app, the camera for lifts, notes for weights. Four apps fighting for attention during an EMOM is a bad deal.

Before dev, I spent years in the military. That probably shows in how Evox is built: no fluff, no vanity metrics, things work or they don't. I'd rather ship one useful feature than three that look cool in a screenshot.

The origin story

Why Evox exists

Short version: my coach was sending workouts on Google Sheets, I had four apps open at once mid-WOD, and none of them talked to each other. Timer here, camera there, notes elsewhere, PR log in a spreadsheet. During an EMOM, you don't have time for that.

The longer version is on the Why Evox page , with the full coach-and-spreadsheets saga.

Principles

How Evox is built

Local-first, cloud optional

Your sessions, PRs and workouts live on your phone. Cloud sync is opt-in. If you delete the app, your data goes with it, we don't hold it hostage.

Free tier is a first-class citizen

The core is free: timers, 600+ workouts, PR tracking, session history. Evox+ and PRO exist for people who want more, not as a paywall on the basics.

No VC pressure

I'm bootstrapped. That means I don't have to optimize for metrics that don't help you. I ship when a feature is ready, not when a quarter closes.

Indie pace, serious quality

Solo dev means slower cadence than a team of 10. It also means every feature that ships was weighed by someone who trains with it. Trade-off I like.

Honest about the limits

Evox won't replace your coach. It won't make you a Games athlete. It's a tool that pays attention between your sessions, that's the promise.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is Evox VC-backed?

No. Evox is bootstrapped. I build it on my own time, around freelance backend work. No investors, no board, no pressure to hit someone else's quarterly targets. The side effect: features only ship when they actually help athletes.

How does Evox make money?

Two optional upgrades: Evox+ (€1.99/mo) removes ads and gives you unlimited AI imports; Evox PRO (coming later, higher price) adds AI coaching features and premium programs. The free tier stays free: timers, 600+ workouts, PR tracking, session history. No paywall on the core.

Can I contribute or give feedback?

Yes: feedback is what shapes Evox. Email contact@getevox.fit or DM on Instagram. I read every message. If you spot a bug, a missing feature you'd pay for, or a copy that sounds off, tell me.

Who is Evox for?

Intermediate-and-above CrossFit, Hyrox or hybrid athletes. Someone who trains with intent, tracks their numbers, and wants their tools out of the way. Complete beginners can use the timers, but the programs and PR tracking assume you've been training a few months. Following a strength cycle, a calisthenics progression or any structured program in open gym? It works too. The core features (timers, PR tracking, programs) are sport-agnostic.

Do you offer freelance work outside Evox?

Yes. I freelance as a senior backend dev: short audits and refactor missions, not long-term retainers. Evox is the product side of what I do; freelance pays the rent. Details on my Malt profile.

Where are you based?

France. Evox is built and supported from here. The app and site ship in English, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.
